AVCA Announces 2026 Team Academic Achievement Award Honors

LEXINGTON, KENTUCKY | The Cardinal volleyball team not only dominates the court, but also in the classroom.

The American Volleyball Coaches Association has announced the 2026 AVCA Team Academic Awards. The Trinity Valley Community College Cardinals volleyball team has been recognized for the seventh consecutive year. They represent the top 20 percent of grade point averages nationally by division also earning the AVCA Team Academic Honor Roll distinction. This is an amazing accomplishment for the Cardinals alongside their dominating 2025 season.

"We are very proud of the academic excellence of the Cardinal Volleyball program. They have set a very high standard on and off the court over the past seven years that is pushing all of our programs to reach for. This accolade is a reflection of the discipline, commitment, and character of our student-athletes." – Athletic Director Eddie Kite

Recipients for this award maintained a year-long grade-point average of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 scale (or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale). AVCA CEO Jaime Gordon was very proud to recognize such accomplishments of the respective volleyball programs.

"We are grateful for the dedication of the coaches and players who make both classroom and on-court success the lifeblood of their programs" said Gordon.

This season, two divisions—Women's Collegiate Beach and Two-Year College—set records for total recipients, reaching 43 and 75 participants, respectively.
