Onward to the postseason go the Region XIV Conference champion Lady Cardinals.

The seventh-ranked Lady Cardinals placed the final piece into the regular season puzzle Wednesday night with a 53-45 road win against Paris.

The win improved the Lady Cardinals to 26-3 on the season. They won their second straight outright conference title with a 13-1 record, which was three games better than second-place Kilgore. The Lady Cardinals have won/shared the conference title 33 times in the past 35 years.

The Lady Cardinals, riding a six-game winning streak, will next head to Baytown for the Region XIV Tournament March 11-14 at Lee College in Baytown. The Lady Cardinals will be the No. 1 seed and take on No. 8 seed Coastal Bend at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 11.

The Lady Cardinals led 17-8 after one quarter against Paris. They were up 28-21 at the half and 37-29 going into the fourth quarter.

Malaya Jones was the top Lady Cardinal scorer with 22 points, 10 of which were in the fourth quarter. She had four three-pointers.

Kalyse Buffin finished with eight, followed by Malaysia Smith and Khanyla Hooten with seven each.

Paris slipped to 14-15 and 6-8.

In the first meeting against Paris at Cardinal Gym, the Lady Cardinals were an 87-57 winner.
