In Precious Ivy's 200th game as head coach, the ninth-ranked Lady Cardinals presented her a decisive 66-44 win Saturday afternoon at Cardinal Gym.
The win keeps the Lady Cardinals, who saw a 19-game winning streak snapped earlier in the week, atop the Region XIV Conference standings. Now 21-3 overall, the Lady Cardinals are 8-1 in conference with five games remaining. They are one game up on Kilgore and two on both Tyler and Panola.
The Lady Cardinals are scheduled to play Coastal Bend in Beeville at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and go Saturday to Lufkin to square off against Angelina at 2 p.m.
Their next home game is Wednesday, Feb. 25 versus Tyler at 5:30 p.m.
Locked in defensively to start the game, the Lady Cardinals led 17-11 after one quarter and were up 33-17 at halftime. They opened the game with an 11-2 run.
Malaya Jones fired in 16 points to lead the Lady Cardinals. Kenidi Glover had 15, Taylor Day-Davis 14 and Kalyse Buffin 11.
Blinn tumbled to 15-10 and 5-4 with the loss.
Ivy is now 172-28 at the Lady Cardinal helm.
In other conference games Saturday, it was Kilgore 103, and Tyler 69 and Paris 62 (OT). Panola also defeated Coastal Bend.
