With two games remaining, the Lady Cardinals, currently ranked 15th in the NJCAA, have secured no worse than a share of their 32nd Region XIV Conference title in 34 years. They are one win away from an outright championship.
The Lady Cardinals took care of business on the road Wednesday night, going to Tyler notching a 77-60 win.
The win improved the Lady Cardinals to 22-4 on the season. They are 10-2 in conference, which is two games up on Tyler, Blinn and Kilgore.
Next up for the Lady Cardinals is a game Saturday at Carthage against Panola. Game time is 2 p.m.
The Lady Cardinals are scheduled to close the regular season at home Wednesday, March 5 versus Paris. Game time is 5:30 p.m.
The Lady Cardinals led 22-11 at the half and 34-26 at halftime. Their lead swelled to 55-30 in the second half before Tyler mounted a min-comeback, getting within 13 at one point.
Monica Marsh led the Lady Cardinals with 16 points. J'yana Salton had 14, Ariana Dyson 12 and Khanyla Hooten 12. Hooten also had 10 rebounds.
The Lady Cardinals were 17-of-21 from the free throw line.
In the first meeting against Tyler at Cardinal Gym, the Lady Cardinals were a 70-66 overtime winner.
