OK then.
The 12th-ranked Lady Cardinals put on a show for a near-capacity Carding Gym crowd Wednesday night. Turning in what Coach Precious Ivy call their "best overall performance" of the season, the Lady Cardinals rolled to an 83-63 win against Kilgore College to maintain their lead in the Region XIV Conference race.
Kilgore was a 54-52 winner on a last-second shot in a game last month at Masters Gymnasium in Kilgore, handing the Lady Cardinals their only conference setback.
The Lady Cardinals, who improved to 19-3 overall and 7-1 in conference, are scheduled to return to action Saturday with an important game at Blinn College. Game time is 2 p.m.
Led by the 1-2 scoring punch of Niylia Wilkins and Monica Marsh, the Lady Cardinals hit Kilgore with a 25-point opening quarter and never looked back. They led 41-30 at the half and 61-41 after three quarters.
Wilkins finished with 25 points and Marsh netted 21.
Kynnedi Davis also hit in double figures with 11, with seven coming from the free throw line.
Da'Naya Ross just missed twin digits but came up big on the defensive end and crashing the boards.
Kilgore fell to 16-7 and 5-3 records.
The Lady Cardinals' next home game is scheduled Saturday, Feb. 22 against Angelina at 2 p.m.
