ON WITH THE SHOW: Missing two starters, Lady Cards still roll

Talk about picking up the slack.

You would never have known the 15th-ranked Lady Cardinals were missing two starters Thursday night in a Region XIV Conference contest at Cardinal Gym. They did not miss a beat.

Five players, led by J'yana Salton's career-high 25-point performance, scored in double figures as the Lady Cardinals rolled to a 118-47 win against winless Coastal Bend.

The Cardinals got off to a good start and by halftime had run off and hidden with a 62-23 lead. They outscored the Lady Cougars 26-6 in the second quarter and 30-7 in the third.

Though Salton, who had a pair of three-pointers, stole the show, she was far from alone.

Also scoring in double figures were Khanyla Hooten with 20, Gabby Morales 17, Niylia Wilkins 17 and Ariana Dyson 14. Sanai Tyler finished with nine and Da'Naya Ross and Monica Marsh eight each.

Morales had five three-pointers.

The Lady Cardinals improved to 15-3 overall and 3-1 in conference. Coastal Bend fell to 0-19 and 0-4

The Lady Cardinals are scheduled to be at home Saturday against Tyler. Action is set to begin at 2 p.m.
