The second-ranked Lady Cards intensified their defensive effort in the second half Wednesday night to erase a halftime deficit and score a 62-53 win against eighth-ranked Angelina at Cardinal Gym.
Angelina, which saw a 10-game winning streak halted with the loss, outscored the Lady Cards 21-13 in the second quarter to go into the half with a 31-26 lead. The Lady Cards played with a sense of urgency over the final two quarters, especially on the defensive end, to outscore the Lady 'Runners 36-22.
The win raised the Lady Cards to 20-1 on the season and 10-1 in Region XIV Conference. Angelina dipped to 20-2 and 9-2.
Parker also played a key role on the boards and defending 6-4 Angelina post Natasha Mack, who came in averaging 23 points per game. Mack finished with 14, scoring seven in the fourth quarter.
In their last 22 games against Angelina, the Lady Cards are 21-1.
The Lady Cards are scheduled to return to action Saturday on the road against Blinn at 2 p.m. The Lady Cards were a 78-72 winner against Blinn in December at Cardinal Gym.
