Talk about a comeback!
Early in the fourth quarter, the second-ranked Lady Cards found themselves on the short end of a 13-point deficit. Fast forward to the seven-minute mark and the comeback was on.
The Lady Cards, ignited by defense, caught fire and rallied to score a 55-49 road win against No. 19 Angelina Wednesday night. The Lady Cards outscored Angelina 25-10 in the fourth quarter.
The Lady Cards took their first lead of the game on a pair of Jasmine Smith free throws at the 1:44 mark, going up 49-47. The comeback was highlighted on the offensive end by back-to-back Tra'dayja Smith three-pointers. Curtessia Dean also had a big three-pointer as the Lady Cards took control.
Dean led the Lady Cards with 14 points, including three three-pointers. Tra'dayja Smith had 13, also with three three-pointers. Arleighshya McElroy finished with 11 points.
Jnaya Walker had a team-high 13 rebounds.
The Lady Cards trailed 27-17 at the half.
The win improved the Lady Cards to 10-0 on the year and 2-0 in Region XIV Conference. Angelina fell to 10-1 and 1-1.
The Lady Cards are scheduled to be at home Saturday in their final outing before the holiday break, hosting Blinn at 2 p.m.
