The Cardinal soccer team will make more history Tuesday, hosting Tyler in the Region XIV championship match. Action at The Pit begins at 2 p.m.
The third-seeded Cardinals (9-1-8) earned the right to play in their first championship match Friday night with a 1-0 win on the road against second-seeded Angelina. Earlier in the day in Corsicana, fourth-seeded Tyler (9-3-7) pulled off a 1-0 upset of top-seeded Navarro.
In conference play, the Cardinals and Tyler played to two ties, 2-2 at Pat Hartley Field in Tyler and 1-1 at The Pit.
The TVCC-Tyler winner advances to the district championship Saturday against the Region 5 winner Ranger (11-1-2). The winner of that one earns an automatic ticket to the national tournament Nov. 16-22 in Enid, Okla. The TVCC-Tyler winner will host Ranger at a time to be determined.
The Cardinals allowed just one goal in October.
