83 AND COUNTING: Lady Cardinals extend home win streak

There's no place like home for the Trinity Valley Community College Lady Cardinals.

Rolling to a pair of lopsided wins in the Budke/Serna Thanksgiving Classic Friday and Saturday at Cardinal Gym, the Lady Cardinals extended their home winning streak to 83 games.

Third-year head coach Gerald Ewing's squad took care of Hill College in 82-34 fashion Friday and rolled to a 102-57 win against McLennan Community College Saturday afternoon.

The two wins improved the Lady Cardinals to 8-2 on the year. They are 1-0 in Region XIV Conference after a 69-53 win on the road against Blinn last Tuesday.

In the win against Hill, the Lady Cardinals raced out to a 44-9 halftime lead.

Naomi Davenport led the way with 17 points, including five three-pointers.

Christalah Lyons finished with 13, followed by Leah Mathis with 12 and Dominique Mills with 10.

Davenport again paced the scoring against McLennan with 20.
Also scoring in double figures were Mathis with 14, Dajah Daniel 13, Malayasia McHenry 12 and Shakeela Folwer 10.

The Lady Cardinals were up 53-14 at the half.

Next up for the Lady Cardinals is a trip Saturday to Jacksonville for a 2 p.m. tipoff.
