A long trip to Twin Falls, Idaho proved worthwhile for the No. 2-ranked Trinity Valley Community College Lady Cardinals.
The Lady Cardinals posted a pair of wins to raise their record on the young season to 3-1, taking down Sheridan, 87-54, and No. 8 College of Southern Idaho, 71-56.
The Lady Cardinals are scheduled to return to action Thursday in the first round of the annual WNIT Tournament at Midland College. They play Arizona Western at 3 p.m. The tournament continues Friday and Saturday.
Against Sheridan, the Lady Cardinals jumped out to a 34-8 lead after the first quarter and never looked back.
Naomi Davenport, hitting five three-pointers, was the top scorer with 27 points. Shakeela Fowler netted 14 and Christalah Lyons 11.
In taking down host CSI in Saturday's game, the Lady Cardinals had a big second half after leading 32-31 at halftime.
Lyons tossed in 20 points to pace the scoring. Davenport had 17 and Leah Mathis 10.
The Lady Cardinals are scheduled to play their home opener on Friday, Nov. 25 at 7 p.m. against Hill College in the Budke/Serna Thanksgiving Classic.
