Braylon Wenger striped 25 points Wednesday night to lead the ninth-ranked Cardinals to an 81-54 blowout of Navarro at Cardinal Gym in a Region XIV Conference contest.
Wenger, shook off a recent shooting slump, hitting 9-of-16 shots, including 5-of-9 from three-point range. He also had three rebounds, three steals and a blocked shot.
Also scoring double figures for the Cardinals were Armani Henderson with 14. Henderson had a double-double, adding 10 rebounds. M.J. Wardlow finished with 10 points.
The Cardinals got 28 points off the bench, led by Xavier Ferguson and Davin Mercer with eight each.
Defensively, the Cardinals had a solid performance. They forced 14 turnovers and held Navarro to three three-pointers, two of which came in the final minute. Navarro shot 31.7 percent from the floor. The Cardinals also blocked nine shots
The Cardinals were up 38-22 at the half, outscoring the Bulldogs 18-7 in the final 8:37.
The defending NJCAA champion Cardinals improved to 16-3 with the win. They are 9-2 in conference. Navarro dipped to 10-9 and 4-7.
The win was the 50th for second-year head coach Greg Heiar at TVCC. He is now 50-6.
The Cardinals are scheduled to be at home Saturday against Lamar State-PA in a noon tipoff. Lamar State-PA is 10-9 and 4-7. The Seahakws were a 61-55 winner against the Cardinals two weeks ago.
