BOUNCE BACK: No. 15 Cardinals edge Cisco, 21-16

The 15th-ranked Cardinals got a much-needed 21-16  SWJCFC win at home Saturday against Cisco College, using a strong second-half performance to get the job done.

Trailing 10-7 at the half, the Cardinals dosed out some serious defense came alive after having been mostly stifled in the first half to pull out the win and improve to 3-1 on the season. The Cardinals are 1-1 in conference. Cisco fell to 1-1 and 0-1 marks.

The Cardinals have this week off. They are scheduled to return to action Saturday, Oct 4 on the road against Blinn College. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

The Cardinals' next home game is scheduled Saturday, Oct. 11 at home against Navarro College in a 3 p.m. kickoff.

The Cardinals took the lead with 12:19 to go in the third quarter on a 20-yard pass from Kaden Brown to Demetrius Pearce. Pearce had scored the Cardinals' first touchdown on the opening possession on a 13-yard pass from Brown.

Brown threw for 217 yards and the two scores. He was also had an interception.

Jake Peveto was the leading Cardinal receiver with seven receptions for  66 yards.

Austin Abram III scored on a 25-yard reverse with 10:44 left in the game to put the Cardinals up 21-10.

The Cardinal defense held Cisco to 88 rushing yards and recorded four sacks.
