TYLER TAKEDOWN: Lady Cardinals knock off No. 15 TJC

The Trinity Valley Community College Lady Cardinals continued their winning ways Wednesday night with a 3-1 (25-18, 20-25, 25-17, 25-20) win against No. 15-ranked Tyler Junior College at Wagstaff Gym.

"It was a great road win for us," said TVCC head coach Tosha Spain. "We really didn't play our game, so I think that says a lot about our kids that they found a way to win."

The win improved the Lady Cardinals to 15-2 on the season. They are 2-0 in conference.

With the win, which was only the second against Tyler in the history of the Lady Cardinal program, the Lady Cardinals next have a showdown at home Saturday at 2 p.m. against Panola, also 2-0 in conference. The Lady Cardinals' only other win against Tyler was in 2011.

The Lady Cardinals have won 21 of their last 22 sets, including 19 straight.

After Panola, the Lady Cardinals will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 1 at home against North Central Texas College in a 1 p.m. non-conference clash.
