The Cardinal softball team swept a doubleheader at home Friday afternoon against Vernon College, winning 12-4 and 35-5 – yes, 35-5.
The 35 runs in the second game, which featured a 26-run outburst in the second inning, set a school record for runs in a game. The previous record was 28 in a 28-9 win against Paris in 2018.
The two wins improved the Cardinals to 4-0 on the year.
They are scheduled to be on the road today, again taking on Vernon. Doubleheader action begins at 1 p.m.
