SWEEPING SUCCESS: Cardinals take two from Hill

In their third doubleheader sweep of the young season, the Cardinals took a pair from Hill College in action Wednesday afternoon at Drumgoole Field at Cain Park. The Cardinals won 3-1 and 4-1.

The sweep improved the Cardinals to 7-5 on the season.

The Cardinals are scheduled to return to action Saturday at Vernon. Doubleheader action begins at 1 p.m.

Here's a recap of Wednesday's games:

GAME 1

Rosemary Rivera went 2-for-3 at the plate, including a double, to lead the Cardinals at the plate.

Rawnie Weststrate went the distance in the circle to pick up the win. She scattered four hits and struck out three.

The Cardinals scored two in the fourth inning and added another in the fifth.

GAME 2

Alessandra Borgas threw a route-going two-hitter for the Cardinals. She struck out eight.

Kaitlyn Corn slammed a home run for the Cardinals and Krystal Anne Castaneda laced a double.

The Cardinals scored all their runs in the first two innings, scoring two in the first and two more in the second.
