The Trinity Valley Community College Rodeo Team hosted its 11th Annual National Intercollegiate Rodeo February 8-9 at the Henderson County Regional Fairpark Complex. The TVCC men's team placed fourth, earning 215 points.
Freshman Trevor Kernick from Big Spring placed in both Tie-down Roping and Team Roping. He placed 3rd in the first round of tie-down roping with a time of 9.1 and split 4th and 5th in team roping in the long go with a time of 6.9 seconds. Kernick ended up 8th in the team roping average.
Freshman Colton Dowell from Marlin and his partner Sophomore Devon Johnson from Red Oak placed 9th in the first round with a time of 7.4 earning them a spot in the short go Saturday night where they split 3rd and 4th place with a time of 6.9. They also split 3rd and 4th in the Team Roping average.
"This is a good start to the spring rodeo season and I look forward to seeing the future successes of the rodeo team members," said Coach Brent Bratton. "We would like to thank everyone who sponsored and helped make the rodeo a success and a whole lot of fun.
