Six homes games – including four straight – highlight the 2019 Cardinal football schedule.
After observing their open date the first week of the season, the Cardinals will play nine straight weeks, starting Saturday, Aug. 31, at Bruce Field against New Mexico Military Institute in their Southwest Junior College Football Conference opener.
"We are excited to have six home games, but playing nine straight weeks without a break will be a challenge," second-year head coach Sherard Poteete said. "We will prepare ourselves knowing once we kick it off the last Saturday in August it will be non-stop until November. I am sure our coaches and kids will be up to the task."
Homecoming is scheduled Saturday, Oct. 12, when Rezolution Prep pays a visit for a 1 p.m. start.
The six-game home portion of the schedule will be punctuated by the eighth annual Battle In The Valley (sponsored by Virtual Communication Specialist) Saturday, Oct 19, against Air Force Prep. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
The Air Force Prep game will be the last of four straight at home, beginning with Cisco (Sept. 28) and Kilgore (Oct. 5).
The SWJCFC plays are scheduled to begin Saturday, Nov. 2, with the semifinals. The regional championship game is set Saturday, Nov. 9.
