10-31-18: Sports Notes



The Lady Cardinal volleyball teams heads out Thursday for Baytown to participate in the 2018 Region XIV Tournament at Lee College.


The Lady Cardinals (22-4) are the No. 3 East seed and will take on Laredo Community College (23-6), the No. 2 South seed, at 9 a.m. Friday in the opening game of the tournament. The Lady Cardinals defeated Laredo by a 3-2 count in the final match of the regular season.


The TVCC-Laredo winner advances to play at 9 a.m. Saturday against the Navarro-Coastal Bend winner. The losers play again at 5 p.m. Friday.


The top two finishing teams advance to the national tournament in Hutchinson, KS.


The Lady Cardinals are making their fifth regional tournament appearance in the nine-year history of the program.

Panola and Wharton play at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in a play-in game for the remaining spot in the tournament.

The Cardinals and Lady Cards tip off the 2018-19 season later this week.


The Cardinals, ranked No. 15 in the NJCAA preseason rankings, take on Strength In Motion at 7 p.m. Thursday at Cardinal Gym. They will be in Lewisville this week for the annual East/West Challenge, playing Odessa at 4 p.m. Saturday and Missouri State-West Plains at 2 p.m. Sunday.


The Lady Cards, ranked No.4 in the NJCAA preseason rankings, are set to play in the Panola Classic in Carthage this weekend. They play Grayson at 5:30 p.m. Friday and ETBU JV at noon Saturday.




The final Cardinal Pride Luncheon of the 2018 fall semester is Monday, Nov. 5.


It will be held at Athens Café at noon.


The cost of the meal is $10.


The public is invited to attend.



We inducted our 10th Cardinal Hall of Fame class at TVCC on Saturday.
