It's back on the road Saturday, making the long trip to take on Wharton. Game time is 1 p.m.

Region XIV Conference action begins for the Lady Cardinals next week. Wednesday, they travel to Carthage to take on Panola in a 7 p.m. contest.

The longest road trip of the season is at hand for the Cardinals.

They leave Friday morning for Roswell, NM, where they are scheduled to take on New Mexico Military Institute at 6 p.m. (Texas time) Saturday in a Southwest Junior College Football Conference opener.

The seventh-ranked Cardinals are coming off a 56-43 loss to fourth-ranked Snow College in the Battle In The Valley at Bruce Field. NMMI scored a 32-30 upset against third-ranked Arizona Western in its opener.

You can listen to the game locally on KCKL 95.9 FM. The game audio will also be available online at www.network1sports.com.

The Cardinals are scheduled to return home Saturday, Sept. 8, to take on Tyler in the Patriot Day game. Kickoff at Bruce Field is set for 7 p.m.

Trucks are still scheduled to arrive bright and early Tuesday, Sept. 4, with the first delivery of the new seating for Cardinal Gym. More will be on the way Wednesday, Sept. 5, and Wednesday, Sept. 12.

The new storage room behind the student seating section on the west end is virtually finished. The painting of the beams is almost finished and the sound/electrical equipment in the area the broadcast/filming tower is being relocated. Once the broadcast tower is removed, the stage will be set for the new seating to take its place.

The project is still on target to be finished by Monday, Oct. 1. As of now, the first event scheduled in the new-look Cardinal Gym is Lady Cardinal volleyball on Wednesday, Oct. 3.

If you get a chance, drop by Cardinal Gym and take a sneak peek how different it looks before the new red theater seating and new scorer's/media tables are in place. It's going to look amazing!
