Coach Tosha Spain's squad was back on the road Wednesday, recording a 3-0 win (25-23, 26-24, 25-14) against Brookhaven College to remain perfect on the season at 7-0.
It's back on the road Saturday, making the long trip to take on Wharton. Game time is 1 p.m.
Region XIV Conference action begins for the Lady Cardinals next week. Wednesday, they travel to Carthage to take on Panola in a 7 p.m. contest.
The Lady Cardinals return home Saturday, Sept. 8, to take on North Central Texas. Game time at the Athens High School sports arena is 5 p.m.
The longest road trip of the season is at hand for the Cardinals.
They leave Friday morning for Roswell, NM, where they are scheduled to take on New Mexico Military Institute at 6 p.m. (Texas time) Saturday in a Southwest Junior College Football Conference opener.
The seventh-ranked Cardinals are coming off a 56-43 loss to fourth-ranked Snow College in the Battle In The Valley at Bruce Field. NMMI scored a 32-30 upset against third-ranked Arizona Western in its opener.

The Cardinals are scheduled to return home Saturday, Sept. 8, to take on Tyler in the Patriot Day game. Kickoff at Bruce Field is set for 7 p.m.
Trucks are still scheduled to arrive bright and early Tuesday, Sept. 4, with the first delivery of the new seating for Cardinal Gym. More will be on the way Wednesday, Sept. 5, and Wednesday, Sept. 12.
The new storage room behind the student seating section on the west end is virtually finished. The painting of the beams is almost finished and the sound/electrical equipment in the area the broadcast/filming tower is being relocated. Once the broadcast tower is removed, the stage will be set for the new seating to take its place.
The project is still on target to be finished by Monday, Oct. 1. As of now, the first event scheduled in the new-look Cardinal Gym is Lady Cardinal volleyball on Wednesday, Oct. 3.

Former Cardinal head football coach Brad Smiley makes his debut as offensive coordinator at Northwestern State tonight against Texas A&M.
