STRONG START: Big first half lifts Lady Cards over KC

Using a 27-point first quarter, the eighth-ranked Lady Cards raced out to a 43-23 halftime lead and held off Kilgore for a 65-54 win Wednesday night at Cardinal Gym.

The Lady Cards improved to 18-2 overall and 8-2 in Region XIV Conference with the win.

The Lady Cards are scheduled to travel Saturday to Brenham to take on Blinn. Game time is 2 p.m.

Michal Miller paced the Lady Cards with 19 points. Arleighya McElroy netted 17, including two of the Lady Cards' seven three-pointers – all in the first half.

Jada Wright led the Lady Cards on the boards with 10 rebounds. Miller had seven.

Rodrea Echols finished with eight points, including two three-pointers. Tyasia Moore had eight points and four blocked shots.

Tra'dayjaSmith joined McElroy and Echols with a pair of three-pointers, finishing with six points and four assists.
