HIGH 5: Davenport fires in 30 points

Naomi Davenport poured in 30 points, including seven three-pointers, Wednesday night to lead the 14th-ranked Trinity Valley Community College Cardinals to a 79-42 thrashing of Angelina College Wednesday night in Lufkin.

 Davenport hit 7-of-11 three-pointers and grabbed nine rebounds as the Lady Cardinals improved to 21-5 overall and 13-3 on the year.
The win, coupled with Tyler's 75-70 loss to Panola, moved the Lady Cardinals back into first place in Region XIV Conference. The Lady Cardinals are a half-game up on Tyler with three games remaining.

The Lady Cardinals are scheduled to be at home Saturday against Coastal Bend in a 2 p.m. tipoff. The game will be webcast by the Cardinal Sports Network at www.tvcc.edu.

 Next week, the Lady Cardinals travel Wednesday to Tyler and wrap up the regular season at home on Saturday against Kilgore.
 The Lady Cardinals built a 35-17 halftime lead and coasted to the final buzzer. They capped the rout with a 23-11 scoring advantage in the final quarter.

Shakeela Fowler joined Davenport in twin-figure scoring with 12 points. Dominique Mills had nine and Christalah Lyons eight. Jordan Alexander finished with seven.


The Lady Cardinals were 22-of-31 from the free throw line.
