The Lady Cardinals pulled off a huge upset Wednesday afternoon in Bullard, scoring a 5-0 win against No. 4-ranked Tyler Junior College in the second game of a Region XIV Conference doubleheader.
It was almost a sweep for the Lady Cardinals. Almost.
Tyler scored a run in the bottom of the ninth inning to take a 2-1 win in Game 1.
The twinbill split left the Lady Cardinals 23-21 on the year and 10-10 in conference. In seeing a five-game winning streak halted, Tyler dropped to 43-6 and 16-4.
The Lady Cardinals have a huge doubleheader at Navarro next on the schedule. Action is set to begin Saturday at 1 p.m. in Corsicana.
Navarro is currently two games up on the Lady Cardinals in the battle for the fourth and final regional tournament berth. The Lady Cardinals and Navarro split a doubleheader earlier this week at Drumgoole Field at Cain Park.

In Game 2 against Tyler, the Lady Cardinals carried a 3-0 lead into the seventh inning, when Mele Pasikala tacked on a pair of insurance runs with a blast over the center field fence.
Kimberly Hughes went the distance in the circle for the Lady Cardinals, holding the potent Tyler lineup to just five hits.
In Game 1, Kimberly Abundis went all nine innings in the circle, limiting Tyler to just two runs.
The Lady Cardinals are scheduled to be at home twice next week. Monday, they host Angelina in doubleheader action starting at 1 p.m. They will face Northeast Texas on Wednesday, also at 1 p.m.
