THE BATTLE IS SET: Pima accepts invitation to play Cardinals

There's another Battle In The Valley brewing.

For a sixth straight year, Virtual Communication Specialists will sponsor high profile game between the Trinity Valley Community College Cardinals and a top national program.

Pima Community College has accepted an invitation to take on the Cardinals in a 5 p.m. kickoff at a new-look Bruce Field on the campus of Athens High School.

"We are very excited to have a well-respected program like Pima coming in for this year's Battle In The Valley," said TVCC athletic director/head football coach Brad Smiley. "It will be a great way to kick off our season.

"We are also thankful for Paul Benson and Virtual Communication Specialists again making the game possible."

The Cardinals went 11-1 last year and claimed a fourth straight  Southwest Junior College Football Conference championship. They won nine straight games to close the season, including a 34-24 win against defending national champion Northwest Mississippi in the C.H.A.M.P.S Heart of Texas Bowl.

Pima, located in Tucson, Arizona, went 3-6 this past season. The  Aztecs compete in the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference with Arizona Western, Mesa, Eastern Arizona, Snow, Phoenix, Glendale and Scotsdale.
